Don’t Get Burned….

Some years ago, one of our owners owned a restaurant business in Denton, Texas. Having hired an individual he believed to be hard-working, honest and a relative of a well known prominent family, he rested confidently as his employee managed the day-to-day operations of his business.

One night after a long day’s work, this trusted employee closed up the restaurant as usual but then proceeded to take all of the money from the till along with some inventory, the stereo system, even the $300 cheese wheel!

Only after checking into this former employee’s past, did our owner find out that this person was not whom he claimed to be. If only he would’ve checked him out before he hired him – not after he robbed him! Not only did he lose the money and inventory that was stolen from him, our owner also lost precious time he spent training this employee. The heartache of being betrayed by a trusted employee and friend was a learning lesson he never forgot.

We know how it feels to be burned by someone who portrays themselves to be someone else. We do not ever wish that on any client. While we are thankful the learning lesson did not result in more serious losses such as a negligent hiring case, we know that any time wasted on unproductive and untrustworthy individuals is a huge loss to any business.
